I want to go early...
A traditional house on Max-Joseph-Platz, in perfect harmony with the Bavarian National Theater, the Residenz and the Palais an der Oper. The man from Munich goes to the Spatenhaus with his family, where he leads business partners and invites them to a festive occasion. On the ground floor the house looks down-to-earth, in the four rooms upstairs it is a bit more elegant. The house stands for upscale hospitality and fine home cooking. Old Bavarian dishes enrich the menu on the ground floor. On the upper floor, the kitchen crew follows the guests' wishes with a differentiated menu. A fine fish cuisine, classic Bavarian and Austrian cuisine complement each other to a first-class offer for every taste.
Great restaurant! We were with a big company, ordered everything! The food is traditional German (fat, a lot, delicious). The waiter is a nice uncle, he even found somewhere Russian vodka! We were in the fall, so we settled on the street, killed the Bavarian soup with meatballs from the liver (or rather, with one meatball, which was the size of a soccer ball?) To all employees, great respect and success!
An institution in Munich. Not only for tourists, also as a Munich resident you should treat yourself to a light drink at the beautiful opera square from time to time.
It's a tourist trap. Don't go here
I liked this place very much, everything was excellent, food and service
The service is very bad, inattentive. I waited for long time just for a drink menu. The man at the door saw my gesture to order but come after 15min.. generally everything’s slow. But they are quick on guide new guests in.
Exceptionally positive experience Yes, extraordinary! Gerhard Herold And now KUFFLER'S DELIVERY SERVICE! MENU AT HOME! ONLY MY UNERTL WEISSBIER does not have the Kuffler. That doesn't matter.
Only went for drinks. Very expensive compared to other places. Nice atmosphere. Big inside and lots of outdoor seating to the front. Service could have come with more of a smile. They take credit cards.
Friendly staff, traditional food, not too long wait times and beautiful outdoor location. What's not to like?
Nice place, pity however spoiled by the bad service of the waiters. We sat for a full 45 minutes without being served. To our grievances we were rudely told to go inside and complain to the owner. Obviously we left and will hardly return. The owner should also take care of the quality of the service.
Delicious Tafelspitz ! ? Yummy Kaiserschmarn! ?
I had lunch at Spatenhaus on 07/16/2019. Good food and good service, I have nothing to complain about.
Munich at its best.
Ok
Cards are accepted. Brauen (roast pork) with a crispy skin like a steak 1800 yen Salad (large) 800 yen. Convenient because it is across from the Opera Square. When I said, "The performance will start in 30 minutes. I'm from Japan," he brought me the food in 5 minutes. When I asked for bread, he brought it in 5 seconds. Thank you very much.
After the theater, we met the outside area of the Spatenhaus at the opera while walking. The waiter was very friendly and polite, and despite the late hour he asked us if we would like to have something to eat. The order was delivered quickly and it tasted very good. The long drinks were also very well prepared. The view of the National Theater and the former main post office when illuminated in the evening is phenomenal. Here you don't have the feeling of being seen only as a paying tourist - that doesn't happen very often in Munich! We would love to come back again - clear recommendation!
Delicious Bavarian food. Lots of choice on the menu and friendly staff. It can get pretty crowded at peak times. The prices are normal for Munich standards.
Solid German food with Spaten on tab ?
Great place. The pork knuckle with crispy skin and very tender meat. Service very courteous. Certainly not the cheap inn, but absolutely justified by the quality of the products and the great preparation. Definitely worth a visit.
Here you can eat very cozy and delicious Bavarian specialties. I especially liked the premises on the first floor! Overall, a very nice restaurant if you want to eat fine Bavarian food.
The food was very good, but it feels like you're just getting on the nerves of the staff at 9 p.m., because they want to call it a day. No, please, no thanks, umbrellas are given and a lot is already prepared for the end of the day. It's a shame as the food comes highly recommended.
Cozy, traditional tavern with fine local cuisine. The food is great, the service staff excellent and very friendly. The prices are appropriate to the high standard. Unreserved recommendation, we would love to come back again and again.
If u are in Munich ...Spatenhaus is the place to go for Bavarian traditional food
Tasty food, but at this price it could use better presentation. Service was quite nice for Bavarian Wirtshaus standards.
Very generous portions of good food. Friendly personnel and good ambiance.
Authentic Bavarian food. A touch above the rest, refined dining room, classical alpine decor. Wiener schnitzel tender but could have been thinner, tasty nonetheless. An all time favourite in Munich!
Great food great service
Last September, we felt like we were treated like royalty. The special of the night was a roast pork dinner (pictured) with my most favorite beer Spaten Oktoberfest (only because it was in season) making it the top meal of our European trip. Walked away with 2 souvenir Spatenhaus an der Oper bier glasses and a great sense of satisfaction.
Nice place, good beers and service. I tried a meat dish and tasted two other dishes with different meats: they were excellent and cared for. Bravi!
Nice place to enjoy their coffee at the opera
I love this place.
Excellent location
Excellent food in their upstairs restaurant
Suckling pig. Quick service, so we made it to the opera. Well worth a visit.
Fun Jewish party
original restaurant where munich is dinning. no tourist trap.
Just another expensive "destination" restaurant. It is right across from the Opera. There are two levels!! So be aware where to go if you made a reservation. Upstairs is of course the white table cloth dining. Downstairs "down to earth" Bavarian cuisine. The waiter was not thrilled with me asking for gluten free options for my friend and even said, now you make me go back to ask the chef again. Service desert Germany in full effect here. Food was tasty, for Americans it is considered cheap, for Germans it is expensive.
Traditional Bavarian dishes in the center. Highly recommended. The food was delicious. The service is professional and friendly. The location and atmosphere just great. And most of all I was satisfied with the quiet in the room: without noise, just relaxation and good food.
Very good
Today two Hong Kong ladies came into dine (dinner) Not sure whether this is Deutschland style or not. Two things that deeply puzzled me about his “well known” restaurant. First: Waitress used her hand to grab our unfinished bread and put on our table. Where is the restaurant service manner? Second: our basket of bread (in which has been sitting on our table for whole time) was passed on to other table of customers?????? Please kindly tell me if this is a similar plane style Business Class where Stewardess carrying basket for everyone to grab their bread as share basket. But if not, I sincerely and seriously don’t think this Spatenhaus would WORTH 4.3. I would give it (or stewardess individual behavior a let go notice). I strongly believe this is individual behavior. And also not representing Germanic collective manner. Please kindly help me to understand this particular erratic gesture. Danke!
Good place, the alcohol free beer is good. But the fish was too salty
A must visit if you’re in Munich and somewhere I always go when I visit: delicious Bavarian dishes with amazing views of the Opera House. Service is friendly and attentive; has a nice warm atmosphere. My personal recommendation is the Schweinsbraten and in my opinion they have the the best Kaiserschmarr’n in Bavaria so make sure you leave room for dessert!
Traditional Bavarian restaurant with quaint interior. Lots of wooden wall and ceiling panels. On the first floor is the “fine dining” area which is a bit more restaurant like and has table cloth. The place is not cheap but the quality iof the food justifies the prices. The beer is delicious.
Nice venue with lovely authentic decoration. Worth the try. Be careful of the delicious pretzels, they come with a price that you will discover at the checkout. The sausages are amazing and tasty!
Good service, good quality, loved it
Excellent?
Food is good but if you are not a regular customer you won't get much attention from the waiters. They put us in a table close to the entry door (there were many other tables available). It was a cold day and we have lots of people opening the door all the time bringing the cold air from outside . When we try to complain we didn't get any attention.
Came highly rated by a colleague when visiting Munich. Fantastic local cuisine. Efficient, friendly and attentive staff. Food was extremely tasty, and a good selection of drinks. Will definitely be visiting again the next time I'm in Munich
Great food (pork knuckle). Extensive wine list. Beautiful location. Accommodated our group of 12 very well. Looking forward to visiting again.
